WATER BAPTISM
The Bible teaches that we should be baptized in water in Jesus name. Jesus himself modeled it for us. In the book of Luke it says, "When all the people were baptized, Jesus was baptized too. As he was praying, heaven was opened." Luke 3:21
Baptism is an outward confession of an inward decision to follow Jesus. It is also a biblical command. The word baptism comes from the word “baptize” which means to immerse. It represents the burial of our old way of life and that we are raised to new life with Christ Jesus.
Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Romans 6:4
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

In the Bible, we find that Hannah, a wife that longed for a child, promised to dedicate her child to the Lord if God would give her one. (1 Samuel 1:11) In Luke 2:22, we find Mary and Joseph taking Jesus to the temple after forty days, to be dedicated to the Lord.
